In all of my courses, I am consistently described by my students as enthusiastic, engaged, and invested. My passion for teaching stems from the belief that I am doing more than teaching students, I am empowering them. I believe that teaching is more than just the process of sharing or transferring knowledge; it is also the process of preparing students to discover knowledge for themselves. While this process of discovery can vary dramatically from course to course, I consistently work towards finding balance between the knowledge students acquire through traditional lecture and what they learn through discussion and hands-on experience. Ultimately, my goal as a teacher is to assist students in developing the knowledge and skills they need to ask critical, socially relevant questions that challenge "common knowledge" and in answering these questions in a conscientious, rigorous, and systematic way.
